Richard Styner ISTE Coach Standards Portfolio
This updated portfolio reorganizes Richard Styner's educational technology work around the current ISTE Standards for Coaches. The current standards describe the instructional technology coach as a capacity builder and implementation expert who helps make technology-supported learning high-impact, sustainable, scalable, and equitable.
Current ISTE Coach Standards
The portfolio below maps existing and current Richard Styner artifacts to the seven current ISTE Coach Standards. The older portfolio was organized around the retired six-standard framework; this version updates the language and evidence structure to the current seven-standard model.
- 4.1 Change Agent — shared vision, equitable access, supportive coaching culture, and transformation.
- 4.2 Connected Learner — professional learning, PLNs, reflection, and continuous improvement.
- 4.3 Collaborator — coaching relationships, tool evaluation, teacher partnership, and personalized support.
- 4.4 Learning Designer — authentic learning experiences, assessment, accessibility, and instructional design.
- 4.5 Professional Learning Facilitator — adult learning, teacher capacity, professional development, and impact evaluation.
- 4.6 Data-Driven Decision-Maker — data collection, analysis, interpretation, feedback, and learning goals.
- 4.7 Digital Citizen Advocate — civic engagement, inclusion, media literacy, privacy, and digital identity.
Portfolio Approach
These pages do not claim that older artifacts were originally designed for the newer standard numbers. Instead, they reinterpret the evidence through the current ISTE Coach framework and show how Richard Styner's work in educational technology, teacher mentoring, online assessment, professional learning, digital citizenship, and public digital identity aligns with modern coaching expectations.
